Shocking images have emerged from a tense distance between the police and a knife-waving man on the roof of a house.
The incident came when the body of another man was found in the Tamworth house in the northeast of NSW, with a murder examination.
Peter Nielsen, 55, is accused of stabbing Richard Garland, 47, in the head for the impasse on Saturday afternoon.
Police officers swung the Gunnaganoo road ownership of Mr Garland at about 4.30 pm.
After initially locked in a bedroom, Nielsen then came to the roof and used a knife.
At one point he ran over the roof to push a ladder police away to try to reach him.
He also threw roof tiles at the officers who tried to arrest him, who in turn used and fired tasers beanbag rounds.

Feathers could be seen exploding his puffer jacket, but Nielsen hardly responded.
On the way to the roof, negotiators try to talk Nielsen to go down, but as they got closer, he fled and fell to the floor where he was disarmed and arrested.
He was transferred to the John Hunter Hospital, where he stays under the police officer. No costs have been laid yet.
Detective inspector Tom Aylett said: “There were some circumstances yesterday that change us to initiate a reaction to ensure that the man was taken out of that roof and that it was done safely.”
The street remained closed on Sunday when forensic and murder detectives took over the investigation
