Now today's children are tempted to reinvent 'Saturday photos' – but this time to see six young Roblox video players competing on the big screen.
Tickets for Gaming Challenge UK from Kartoon Channel can be purchased this weekend for a launch of 19 April in Vue Cinemas nationwide.
Promoters claim that this will be the first time that a film-length film from a video gaming tournament has been on the big screen.
The stars, six British junior school children, were recruited via Facebook and a casting agency to play each other on the Roblox video platform.
Roblox claims that almost two -thirds of the British children from eight to 12 years old use his site every week.
Cartoon Channel Executive Paul Robinson said the goal was to 'recreate it that used to be the Saturday morning cinema experience, but with a modern idiom'.
He said: 'As a child I went to the Saturday photos and it was a real family outing.

Points are awarded at the end of each round with eliminated gamers who can choose prices, including a PS5, iPad and mobile phone.
