The family of a man who was found dead on the M4 last night was comforted by the police, because the highway reopens after a night closure.
The busy highway was closed in both directions on Saturday evening after the police had discovered a body around 6.30 pm after reports from the drivers involved.
The police attended the scene on the road between junctions 20 and 21 in Gloucestershire and found 'human remains'.
On Sunday morning, the police of Avon and Somerset said they had identified the man, which it was thought to be in the forty.
The Force wrote online: 'The M4 was reopened at night after the tragic death of a man.
“The relatives of the deceased have been informed and our thoughts are with them.”
The name of the man has not yet been released and officers are still investigating how his body originated on the highway.
“If you drove that part of the M4 and have relevant information or images between 6 and 6.45 pm, call 101 with regard to reference number 5225047292,” the police said.

A spokesperson for the Avon & Somerset police said: 'We were called on 22 February at 6.40 pm by various drivers who reported something on the road.
“Officers were present and found human remains.”
To the left of the M5 Junction 15 South to the M4 Junction 20 West were also closed, as well as the M5 Junction 16 North to M4 Junction 20 West.
