A huge truck fire raged this morning on an industrial estate in Manchester, with black smoke, roaring flames and loud pony, forcing families to evacuate.
The eruption that broke out just after 8 hours on the industrial estate around the tour in the Wythenshawe area of the city 'involved heavy good vehicles', said Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).
Several houses in the neighborhood were forced to evacuate 'because of the amount of smoke', the fire brigade added, while ten fire engines descended from Greater Manchester to fight the flames. Wythenshawe Hospital is just half a mile away from the site.
One X user said that the explosions that come out, while the fire was raging, could be heard from two or three miles away in the city of Altrincham. There was “a scent in the air,” they added.
Shocking clips show the thick clouds of smoke high – still visibly even filmed in images from the center of Manchester, more than ten miles away – with powerful orange flames that rise from the ground.
An enormous emergency aid was present, including Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service – but there were no victims, they confirmed. GMFRS told people who live in the neighborhood to close windows and doors during the fire.
From about 12.40 the fire is 'largely' extinguished, GMFRS said, 'with only one area that still requires the attention of firefighters'. Evacuated families have now been brought back to their houses and road closures have been lifted.
Local wife Lisa Baines said that she was shocked that she thought Great -Britain was bombed by Russia: 'Nothing is waking up on a Sunday morning by many explosions. Thought Putin had come for us. '

At 10.45 am the fire was 'mostly' extinguished, the emergency aid was scaled back when four fire engines remained on the spot – but the locals were still encouraged to keep windows and doors closed.
