A man drowned on a popular beach despite desperate attempts to save his life.
An unconscious man was pulled out of the water on Scarborough Beach, a popular beach in the north of Perth, shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday.
Lifeguards and bystanders tried to perform CPR, but he could not be revived.
Witness Sam Richel told 7News savors spent a 'really long' time trying to save the man.
“Then the white sheet came out. It was pretty scary, “he said
Another beach visitor, Adryen Marchal, claimed that different witnesses saw the man float in the water.
“We saw something floating. We wanted to call the Life Savers, but they already knew what was happening, “he said.
'Two of them took the rescue pedal to take the man out of the water and then (brought them back to the beach.

“I didn't try to look because it was a bit shocking.”
Authorities have not identified the victim.
It is believed that he was alone on the beach.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is underway.
