An electrician who had to be saved from the top of a crane described it as his lowest point that forced him to face the reality of his gambling addiction.
Builders on a site in Broadbeach, on the Gold Coast, found Keegan Verho sleeping on the ballast of a crane 100m in the air at around 7.30 am on Friday.
The workers used the crane two hours before a passer -by Keegan spotted on it and slept on it and the alarm raised.
Speaking with 7News, Keegan revealed that he had thrown away all week on Thursday evening and 'Blacked Out'.
“Afterwards everyone said,” Big Night, what a weapon, he is a legend “but it's so much more than that,” he said.
Keegan said he was 'spiral -shaped' after he was paid earlier that day and hurried to blow his wages after work. He raised cash at the location seven times and said he was alarming that nobody questioned the behavior.
There was no safety barrier and luckily he woke up before he fell off. He was able to wait in the crane's cabin before the police and a technical rescue team accompanied him to the ground.
Keegan had no memory of climbing the crane.
