The legendary Madison Square Garden -Croep Al Trautwig died Monday, 69 years old.
Fans, friends and colleagues went to social media to share the sad news and to express their sorrow after his death.
“I am sad to share the news that we have lost a legendary voice in sport,” wrote ESPN's Alan Hahn.
“But we have lost much more than that. He was not only a friend, but a mentor and a teacher. He was personally one of my biggest support sources when I moved to this career. '
The broadcast career of Trautwig included for decades when he became a beloved figure among sports fans in New York City. Metropolitan Diehards became familiar with the work of Trautwig and fulfilled tasks for the MSG network.

The death of Trautwig only came a few days before his birthday on 26 February.
