Now THAT’S chilling out: The igloo hotels in the Alps rebuilt each winter… from snow

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live like an Eskimo?

The Iglu-Dorf hotel chain can give you a sense of giving the five IGLO holiday 'villages' in the Alps that are made entirely of snow and ice that are rebuilt every year.

Temperatures inside are cold – between -2C and +2C – and even the beds are carved out of snow. But guests are equipped with expedition sleeping bags that keep them good to temperatures of -40C and the rooms are equipped with thermal mats, electric lights and USB current connectors.

They can also heat up in a whirlpool outside.

There are three Igloo villages in Switzerland, in Davos (2500 m above sea level), Gstaad (1,900m) and Zermatt (2,700m); one in Austria, in Innsbruck (2,000 m); and one in Germany, at Zugspitze (2,600m).

The igloos are all connected by a corridor system that offers shelter against the elements – and the structures are so firm that “you could drive a snow shearer over them and nothing would happen.”

Regardless of the choice, everyone gets tea in the morning.

The sites also have restaurants and bars that serve Glühwein, fresh fondues and 'different snacks'; saunas; And at Davos, Gstaad and Zermatt there are 'cozy Kotas', wooden huts with open burning.

However, there are no showers in one of the villages.

User 'Thaisfuncia' said for example: 'It is a great experience, but not at all comfortable. But I have to say it's an experience! 'While' Nytrydr 'noted:' So, so cold. I know it is an igloo, but it was still uncomfortably cold to sleep there. '

Iglu-Dorf says: 'Enjoy some downtime! The five Igloo villages nestle between the mountains, where one night in the snow becomes a unique experience. The snow hotels offer comfort in the lap of nature with a restaurant, bar, whirlpool/sauna. Ideal for loved ones, families and friends – Relaxation is guaranteed. '
