Fortunately, the whale spit, Adrian Simancas, 24, spit out of his mouth, but just after he flooded him and he was unharmed.
Adrian's panicky father Dell, who recorded the test of another kayak, heard screaming in Spanish – and told his son to stay calm. He quickly paddled to Adrian, who shouted, “Did you see me swallowing?”
These types of cases are very unusual because whales are generally non-aggressive beings, but Adrian's incident hits Michael Packard close to home.
In June 2021, Packard was taken to the hospital with damage to soft tissue and a disrupted knee after he was swallowed up and spit out by a humpback.
