The former college football star arrested for killing his little brother and his cat in a luxurious apartment in New Jersey made a series of disturbing social media posts prior to the horrific crime.
Matthew Hertgen, 31, was accused of murder in the first degree, various wapzendics and animal abuse for the murder of his 26-year-old brother Joseph Hertgen.
The Princeton police responded to a call from 911 that there was a fire and a dead body within one of the houses in the Michelle Mews apartments on Saturday, according to the Mercer County Procurutor's Office.
When officers responded to the scene, they found Matthew, who was determined to be the caller, in the house together with the beaten and cut body of the victim and a dead cat.
The police believe that Matthew – who went to Ritzy Private College Wesleyan University – used a knife and a golf club to attack and kill his brother – who worked as a banker after graduating at Michigan University.
A day before the brutal murder, Matthew heavily bearded a hair -raising selfie of herself – and made an expressionless on the floor next to a cat toys, which costs $ 7.99 from Petsmart.
The toys were probably owned by the Pet Cat of the Hertgen family, which was also slaughtered during the murder in the house near Princeton.
With a black T-shirt, the selfie of the Beady-Eyed left the alleged murderer on a beige carpet floor. It was uploaded to the social media site without a caption.

Matthew's adult facial hair and deadpan look corresponded to his mugshot – which was released on Monday by prosecutors. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a black jacket.
His most recent written post was from a September 4, that he shared a disturbing poem about death and fire.
The content was graphic – and seemed to have been written an original poem by Matthew himself.
“Someone is alone in that room. That room where the walls shake. He still has a wrist. Blood still flows through his veins. But something is wrapped around him. Squeeze him. Sicked him up. Beat him. Tightly wrapped around his head. Deep in his throat attached. Blood seeps from his eyes, “said Matthew.
“His body is surrounded by fires. The fires flares in him. He burns nothing. His eyes red with the minute. Creases form on his forehead. He keeps his mouth tight. '
The cause and way of Joseph's death are awaiting the results of an autopsy – and the motivation for his murder is unknown.
The Hertgen brothers were raised in the picturesque coastal city of Toms River by their multi-millionaire Tech-Mogul father David and mother Debra.
Their father, David Hertgen, is according to his LinkedIn the president and CFO of business internet provider Wiline Networks.
The prosperous brothers grew up in a mansion with three beds in Toms River, New Jersey, which was equipped with a swimming pool in the back garden.

The Michelle Mews apartment complex where Joseph was murdered is a luxurious building within Palmer Square Residences in the center of Princeton – minutes away from Ivy League University.
