A former football player from the university was arrested for killing his little brother and his cat in a luxurious apartment building in New Jersey.
Matthew Hertgen, 31, was accused of murder in the first degree, various wapzendics and animal abuse for the murder of his 26-year-old brother Joseph Hertgen.
The Hertgen brothers were raised in the picturesque coastal city of Toms River by their multi-millionaire Tech-Mogul father David and mother Debra.
The Princeton police responded to a call from 911 that there was a fire and a dead body within one of the houses in the Michelle Mews apartments on Saturday, according to the Mercer County Procurutor's Office.
When officers responded to the stage, they found Matthew, who was determined to be the caller, in the home together with the body of the victim and a dead cat.
The police believe that Matthew – who went to Ritzy Private College Wesleyan University – used a knife and a golf club to attack and kill his brother – who worked as a banker after graduating at Michigan University.
'[The victim] shown various injuries, including signs of blunt strength trauma and cracks. Joseph was declared dead on the spot, “said prosecutors.
“The complaint claims that Matthew was deliberately or consciously involved in behavior that led to the death of his younger brother and the death of a cat that was in the home caused.”

The cause and way of Joseph's death are awaiting the results of an autopsy – and the motivation for his murder is unknown.
The Michelle Mews apartment complex is a luxurious building within Palmer Square Residences in the center of Princeton – minutes away from Ivy League University.
According to her website, the current offers for Michelle Mews Apartments go for $ 6,275 to $ 6,300 a month.
Both men were Football Stars – Matthew played at Wesleyan University from 2011 to 2014 and Joseph played from 2016 to 2019 at the University of Michigan.
Each of them was also striking football players at Toms River North High School, NJ.com reported.
Joseph graduated in 2020 in a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, and worked as an analyst at Locust Point Capital, explained his LinkedIn.
The prosperous brothers grew up in a mansion with three beds in Toms River, New Jersey, which was equipped with a swimming pool in the back garden.
Online records show that the house, which is worth $ 1.2 million, was sold in 2018.
