Pubs close at an alarming pace throughout the country, so villagers knew they had to think of something unusual to increase the £ 650,000 needed to save their historical drinking hole.
They came up with a fun video campaign for social media that the generations were cut, became worldwide and collected £ 520,000.
Residents of Langton Herring in Dorset say they are now ready to buy and reopen the Elm Tree Inn. On Monday an offer will be made, with further fundraising and loans that form the balance.

The videos have been held hundreds of thousands of times and cash has been inside from more than 30 countries, with particularly enthusiastic Americans.
Villager Nick Carroll said: “They see national idyll England, a country pub with a history.”
Sir Barnes Wallis drank and stayed in the elm tree while his bouncing bomb, used in the Dambusters in the Second World War, was tested nearby.
