Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg died of natural causes and may have had complications after a liver transplant, police sources told ABC News.
De Ster, 39, was found dead on Wednesday by her mother in her apartment in New York City near Columbus Circle just after 8 hours of local time.
The police told DailyMail.com that there is no false game in her death.
Sources told TMZ that the actress had recently undergone a liver transplant after fighting alcohol issues.
Her last outing was Sartiano's restaurant in Soho last Thursday evening.
An autopsy will be performed by the medical investigator's office to determine the exact cause of death.
“On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at around 0801, the police responded to a 911 call from a helped person on 1 Columbus Place, within the limits of the Midtown North -District,” the police said in a statement.
'Upon arrival, officers observed a 39-year-old female female unconscious and non-responding. EMS responded to the location and explained the deceased victim.
“Crime is not suspected. The medical researcher will determine the cause of death. The investigation keeps going. '

Anyone who has received a liver transplant as a result of alcohol abuse is advised then to abstain from alcohol.
Trachtenberg was best known for her on roll teen supernatural drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer over 2000-2003.
She played Buffy's younger sister Dawn Summers in 66 episodes of the hit show.
The resident of Brooklyn also had a recurring role as 'The Witch of the Upper East Side' Georgina Sparks in 28 episodes of the CW Teen Soap Gossip Girl for 2008-2012.
She also appeared in the 1996 Harriet The Spy film when she was 10 years old, alongside Rosie O'Donnell.
In recent years, Trachtenberg had been worried about her health after sharing disturbing posts on social media in which she seemed weak.

The former children's star grew up in New York.
Her mother Lana and sister Irene later moved to Tarzana in California, while Michelle's father Michael lives in an apartment in Brooklyn.
The former co-star O'Donnell, 62 van Trachtenberg, published a statement to people who describe death as 'heartbreaking'.
