This is the Nottingham University student who was killed in a horrible e-bike crash on campus.

Sophie Goode, 18, who was sitting at the University of Nottingham in her first year, was seriously injured in the collision with another e-bike while driving at sunrise on Tuesday morning.

Sophie was rushed to the hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, she was unfortunately declared death shortly after her arrived.

Her sister Charlotte Goode brought tribute to her brother or sister in a post on social media and said that Sophie had cycled with a friend to look at the sunrise.

She wrote: 'It is heartbreaking. She went to watch the sunrise with her best friend.

“She was loved by so many of us and she will always be. We were all so proud of her and stay. '

Emergency services were called to the prestigious park campus of the university after the alarm was increased in the early hours.

Mrs. Goode, who lived on the spot in rented accommodation, had hired a lime bike on the app for the early morning adventure.

The crash took place on East Drive at the intersection with Keighton Hill, near the Student Union building, in the beautiful 300 hectares of Lakeside complex.

She was rushed to the hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, she was declared dead shortly thereafter.

There was a claim that the ambulance had taken more than an hour to arrive on the spot, but this is not substantiated.

The nearest hospital to the campus is Queen's Medical Center in Nottingham – only one mile way and a five -minute drive away.

Fellow students are 'shocked' and 'sad' left by the death of the teenager.

Sophie, from South Cave, near Hull, was a talented cricket player who previously represented the Cricket Club of the North Cave Coal Exporters, where she had played next to her mother Wendy.

The club confirmed that it was aware of her tragic death, but a spokesperson refused to say more without the permission of Sophie's family.

A family friend said that Sophie's parents were “not ready to talk” at the moment and that their grief was 'very, very raw'.

A spokesperson for the University of Nottingham said earlier: 'It is with great sadness that we confirm the death of one of our students at the Campus of University Park in the early hours of Tuesday morning in a traffic incident.

'This is a deeply disturbing time, and all our thoughts are with friends, family and loved ones. We will continue to support our community while we process the weight of this loss. '

Detective sergeant Paul Clark, by the Nottinghamshire police, said: “This is a tragic incident that I know will come a shock for anyone who knew the victim and loved.

'Officers will stay on site for a large part of the day while we work to understand the order of events that have led to the tragic and early death of this young woman.

“As that work continues, our thoughts with her family are in this very difficult time.”

Everyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 stating incident 55 of 25 February 2025.

A student who did not want to be called, added: 'We heard about the incident through friends and online and came to see it personally. It is shocking to see it closed with the road in real life. '

It comes after an urgent warning has been issued about the 'accessibility' and 'rapid acceleration' of e-bikes after the death of a great-grandfather.

Ian Jones, a 61-year-old father to six from Cardiff, had driven an e-bike in the capital of Wales when the fatal crash took place on October 29, 2022, heard an investigation.

While kicking the electric motor without a helmet, the Lord Jones clashed with a bollard on the sidewalk and hit his head.

Described as a 'real gentleman', the Welshman was rushed to the university hospital Wales, but unfortunately died as a result of a 'traumatic brain injury' caused by the horror crash.
In another terrible crash in which an e-bike was only a matter of months ago, a 10-year-old boy remained behind with his nose 'hanging' after he was struck by a bicycle while playing outside his parental home.

Carter Ralph continued to require two more operations to repair his nose after the incident, where the 'heartless' cyclist fled without helping the young boy.

Nadine Ralph, Carter's 39-year-old mother, described the incident as 'horrible'.

She said: 'I was in the house and heard Carter scream. I jumped up and ran outside. There was blood everywhere, everywhere about Carter's face and on the ground. '

“He looked like he had been beaten heavily – he was so battered and bruised.

“His chest also had a large yellow and blue bruise where I think the bicycle handlebar had hit him and the cyclist threw away.”

In 2024 Marcus Beck, 17, and Gregor Booth, 16, both in a horror crash with an e-bike, on which they were both passengers, and four cars on the A941 Lossiemouth to Elgin Road, at the intersection with the B9135 in Moray .

The teenagers were declared dead on the spot by the police and the driver of the Ebike, a 14-year-old man, was transferred to Dr. Gray's Hospital, Elgin, with serious injuries. It is said that his condition is stable.

In 2023, 15-year-old Saul Cookson died when his e-bike collided with an ambulance in Salford.

And in the same year, teenagers Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and Harvey Evans, 15, were killed in Cardiff when the electric bicycle they drove crashed.

Another incident, in 2018, saw 56-year-old Sakine Cihan killed when bricklayer Thomas Hanlon, 32, crashed her on an e-bike before fled the stage.

Industry bosses warned last year that illegal e-bikes can reach speeds of 40 km / h are death traps and are even used on highways.

Motorcyclists of motorcycles claimed that powerful e-bikes are being driven illegally due to a lack of effective police work.

A group that represents Honda, Yamaha, BMW and other similar companies, warned the government that there is a 'widespread' use of the bikes that are technical mopeds and must be driven with a license.

The companies wrote to Transport Secretary when Mark Harper encouraged him to start an overview of the issues.

E-bikes are also used in London in numerous acts of antisocial and sometimes criminal behavior.

Shocking dashcam images from last year showed a brutal thief who used an e-bike as an escape vehicle after he had waved the sidewalk on the sidewalk to steal the phone meters of a woman from the Ritz Hotel.

The helpless victim remained crumbled in a lot on the sidewalk while the criminal ran away, floating between moving vehicles to get away.
