The Buccaneers brought Jon Gruden back to the team's honor, four years after the former head coach was removed about the use of racist, homophobic and misogynistic terms in e -mails.
The 61-year-old coached the BUCs between 2002 and 2008 and led the franchise to the victory at Super Bowl XXXVII.
He was included in the Ring of Honor in 2017.
In October 2021, however, the NFL franchise made that decision after the offensive Emails were released, and claimed that the actions of Gruden 'as an organization go against our core values'.
“The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have argued for targeted change in the field of race relationships, gender equality, diversity and inclusion for many years,” said a statement.
'While we recognize Jon Gruden's contributions on the field, his actions go against our core values as an organization. That is why he will no longer remain a member of the Buccaneers Ring of Honor. '
But now the BUCs Gruden have welcomed back to the exclusive club.
“Jon Gruden was initially included in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor based on his many performance during his seven seasons as head coach and he remains an important figure in the history of our franchise,” the team said.
“After further reflection, we decided to restore him in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.”
