The police hunt for a 'blonde woman in the outfit of a nurse' who walked in sheltered accommodation and reportedly injected an older resident.
Bosses in Winford House – a residential complex operated by thirteen in Billingham, County Durham – said they are 'deeply worried'.
Cleveland's police described the case as a “suspected incident” after the daughter of a resident had detailed the frightening test.
The daughter claimed that a 'blonde woman who was dressed in the outfit of a nurse' came in her mother's apartment around 8 am on Tuesday 25 February.
She said that the woman gained access to the building – which can only be done via an access code, key ring or by calling a tenant – and said she was there to manage her mother insulin.
Her mother reportedly interrogated the woman and said: “You are new.”
But the 'nurse' would have answered that she had to 'cover the area' and before her insulin had to administer a 'separate injection', due to 'information from above'.
The mother then allowed the treatment because the visitor was wearing a 'nurse uniform'.

She 'thought nothing about it' until her usual diabetic nurse later appeared the same morning, her daughter said.
The Cleveland police confirmed that there are questions in the incident, whereby the director of customer service at thirteen states that the company is 'deeply delivered', but 'offers full support to those involved'.
The daughter said her older mother could recognize the woman through a photo, while the family appeals to information and CCTV.
However, she hopes and prays that it is a mix with the Rotas and it is a 'big mistake and nothing sinister'. She added that her mother's tests have become completely clear.
A spokesperson for the Cleveland police said: 'Officers went to Winford House in Billingham after reports of a suspicious incident that took place on Tuesday 25 February.
“Questions are currently underway and we work closely with partners while we continue our research.”
The executive director of the customer services of thirteen said David Ripley: 'The safety and well -being of our customers is our priority.
'We are deeply concerned about this incident and we offer full support to those involved, while we work closely with the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
'We also want to reassure all our customers that we have security measures, and we assess and strengthen them continuously.
'We remind everyone to always stay vigilant and to report something unusual to our colleagues.
“Our team is here to help, and we encourage customers and their families to talk to us when they worry.”
