There is an investigation underway in a serious crash on the M5 who saw a man killing after being hit by a truck.
Motorists in the West -land were in a stalemate after the highway was closed after the crash – in which a pedestrian, a car and a truck were involved.
Emergency services were called to the incident, which took place between junctions 24 (Bridgwater South) and 25 (Taunton), shortly after 145 hours on Wednesday.
Crews discovered that the pedestrian, a man in fifty, had suffered fatal injuries.
Despite the best efforts of ambulance personnel, he unfortunately died on the spot. The police say that his family has been informed and receives support from a specially trained officer.
The M5 remained in both directions until 6.15 pm, while officers conducted a long -term investigation into the crash.
The police of Avon and Somerset are now attractive for anyone with dashcam images or information to come forward.

A spokesperson for The Force said: 'Emergency services were mentioned shortly before 2.45 pm after the incident with a pedestrian and a truck on the southern lane between junctions 24 (Bridgwater South) and 25 (Taunton).
“A man, in his fifty, suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot. Our thoughts are with the man's family who have been informed and receive support from a specially trained officer.
'The M5 was closed in both directions for a number of hours to enable emergency services to respond and collision investigation work. The northern lane was reopened around 6.15 pm, with the southern origin reopening a few hours later.
'We understand that the highway closure disrupts motorists, but are grateful for the patience and the understanding of the public given the tragic nature of the circumstances.
