David Johansen, the former lead singer of the New York Dolls punk band, died on Friday at the age of 75 in his house in New York.
His daughter Leah Hennessey confirmed his death to variety.
Earlier this month, Johans announced that he suffered from stage four cancer, a brain tumor and a broken back.
Hennessey shared news about his diagnosis in a sweet aid collection campaign for the medical costs of her father.
She also revealed that he had been in 'intensive treatment' for most of the past decade and that his illness progressed and developed a brain tumor in 2020.
The family of Johansen kept his health struggle private and only decided to open it now because of the 'serious financial burden' that they now have to deal with because of the costs of his care.
Unfortunately, Johansen also broke his back in two places after he had fallen off the stairs the day after Thanksgiving, and he underwent a successful operation and spent a week in the hospital.

However, he is bedridden and disabled, “wrote Leah, whose mother David's wife Mara Hennessey is.
“Due to the trauma, David's disease has progressed exponentially and my mother takes care of the clock.”

Although her father has earned a living as a singer and actor for almost 60 years, Hennessey explained that he has not been able to work as a performer in the last five years.
'Our most direct needs are full -time nursing, physiotherapy and financing for daily vital costs of living. With professional specialized care we are hope that David can regain some mobility and independence, “Hennessey said.
Fundraising did not specify exactly what kind of cancer Johans Vecht.

In a explanation obtained by Rolling Stone, Johansen called the latest development in his health care 'the worst pain' he had ever ended.
