Veteran -american boxer Carson Jones died at the age of 38 after complications of an operation on his esophagus.
Jones, who enjoyed two fights with Kell Brook before Brit's Government as IBF Welterweight Champion, won 44 of his 65 professional competitions and was once ranked as high as number 4 in the world.
His last outing came back in 2023, before he stepped from boxing to undergo surgery on his esophagus.
Last week former opponent Caleb Truax revealed that his good friend had fallen ill for 'complications during surgical procedure' – and now he has announced the tragic death of Jones.
Truax, who held the IBF Super-Middeweight title of 2017-18, shared a photo of the couple together on X and wrote: 'Rest in paradise for my husband. Boxing lost a good, too early. '
Earlier this year, Jones had told his social-media followers that he was struggling with gastrointestinal problems that influence the digestive passage through which food and liquids travel.

'I am finally operated on my esophagus on Monday. I can't wait. This s *** drives me crazy, “he posted in January.
'I have had a maximum of three snacks a day in recent weeks, with a loss of 35 pounds. Some days there is no food or drink at all. '
Huldesten arrived for the hunter born in Oklahoma after the news of his tragic death on Saturday.
Brook, who defeated Jones on points and then by interruption in their two periods, shared a message from another user on his Instagram story stating: 'Sad News in the boxing world today, Carson Jones died. He was a real veteran for the sport with more than 60 professional fights. His fights against @Specialkellbrook really put Kel on the map. '
Manager Sam Jones posted: 'Such sad news about Carson Jones'.
While British referee Mark Lyson also wrote: “Very sad to hear the news about the death of Carson Jones at only 38. Rip Champ.”
