Councils have increased the Ante when calling the mandatory rollout of a household glass container to be deleted.
At least 14 councils in Victoria have been merged to challenge the mandatory four-bin system that is implemented by the Jacinta Allan government.
All households in the entire state must have a glass recycling service – or a purple container by 2027 to recycle large items such as bottles and pots.
Councils that fight the change have a letter to the environmental minister Steve Dimopoulos warning that another Wheelie Bin deployment would result in considerable costs for households.
Mayor of Oost -Gippsland, John White, is one of those who have encouraged the Staatswerkerweg to dump the recycling initiative away.
“We are in challenging economic times, and we have to take into account the impact on the entire state to be able to have our communities,” mayor of East Gippland, John White, told The Herald Sun.
'Kerbside Glass Recycling is a government program that, if implemented as proposed, will cost our Ratepayers more. We do not need a fourth baking collection service that has been imposed on us. '
CR White called on the government to consider expanding the container cancellation schedule of the state with glass items such as wine bottles.

More than a dozen councils have been merged in contrast to the rollout of a mandatory fourth household bin in Victoria

Spokesperson for the Brad Rowswell opposition environment added: “The problem is, how much does this new program Victorians cost?”
The then Prime Minister Daniel Andrews announced the fourbin system in 2020 with councils were given until 2027 to switch.
The government also announced $ 129 million in subsidy finance to help with the transition.
However, Councils have argued that the amount does not cover the total costs.
Some metropolitan and regional councils have already taken over the program, including Frankston, Ararat, Whittlesea, Hindmarsh, Surf Coast, Warrnambool, City of Yarra and Macedon Ranges.
“We are committed to creating a more sustainable future and providing improved recycling services for our community – from now on,” says Whittlesea Council on its website.
“This service makes old glass bottles and pots again made in new bottles and pots.”
The Herald Sun, however, reported that one in five of the Victoria councils does not want to introduce the new system or delay them roll -out.

Victoria Prime Minister Jacinta Allan is under increasing pressure to delete a fourth household bin
A spokeswoman for the Victorian government said that the state “cooperates with councils” to deliver the program and “distract waste from landfill.”
“The container cancellation scheme has been embraced by Victorians and supplements the rollout of the Victoria four-power waste and recycling system,” she said.
“Many items, such as glass bottles and pots, are not suitable for CDS Vic – De Glass Bin enables households to easily recycle them at home.”
