A 16-year-old boy was shot in Clapham, South London, the Metropolitan Police said.
Emergency services including an air ambulance hurried to Paradise Road at 3.21 pm after receiving reports from a shooting.
The boy was declared dead with a police statement that officers work to identify the teenager and to contact his close relatives.
No arrests were made in connection with the shooting, which took place not far from Stockwell Tube Station.
A crime scene and Cordon remain in place on the spot while emergency services continue their questions.

Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, who leads the local police response, said: “This is a huge shocking incident that I think it will cause enormous suffering for the local community.
“Our thoughts are on this devastating time with the young boy's family.
'Local officers are on stage and collect CCTV and speak with witnesses to merge what happened.
'They will soon be supported by specialist murder researchers.
“Be sure that we will work around the clock to identify and find it responsible.”
