The Backpacker traveled 6000 miles from Wales to Thailand when he fell into the deepest part of the beauty pock reservoir.
Mr. Gowribalan – who was born in Sri Lanka but grew up and went to school and university in Swansea – was described as a 'hard -working, organized and intelligent' young man who likes to travel.
He and a friend traveled in the southern part of Thailand in February last year when the tragedy struck.
Shortly after breakfast he went to the Cheow Lan Dam – an 185 square kilometer artificial lake – in Khao Sok National Park.

On February 14, Mr. Gowribalan's body flushed near the accommodation where he had stayed.
During the research in Swansea Guildhall on Wednesday, a report was read by Coroner's Officer Claire Seymour, who said that registration was needed for people to eliminate a kayak, which means that they would be provided with a paddle and a rescue jacket.
However, an investigation by the Thai police showed that no registration had been recorded.
It was also heard that Mr. Gowribalan and his friend asked the lake in kayaks without rescue jackets that morning.
A post-mortem exam found water and waste water in both cavities of the chest.
The research also heard that Mr. Gowribalan had no history of alcohol or drug abuse and no health problems.
Coroner Ald Gruffydd said: 'On 14, 2024, Shanghaman was found in Thailand. He was missing during a kayak trip with his friend on February 11, 2024.
