All the times the internet has exploded over Donald Trump’s feet from toe pads to heel lifts

Social media has developed an odd fascination with President Donald Trump’s feet over the years, with many trolls suggesting his shoes hold secrets.

Trump, 78, this week went viral after video of him on the golf course appeared to show him dragging his right leg after he seemingly struggled to get off his golf cart.

Internet trolls were quick to spew unsubstantiated conspiracy theories about Trump’s health, alleging his wobbly leg was indicative of a more serious condition – despite there being no public confirmation of any such issue.

A Team Trump spokesman furiously shot down the suggestions, but social media users proved relentless and started sharing a clearly doctored photograph of his so-called ‘clown’ shoes.

The original photograph was captured in the Oval Office last week as Trump met with Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

But a poorly photoshopped version of the image caused an uproar on X, with some users joking that Trump underwent a foot or lower leg amputation. Others suggested he was wearing shoes that are ‘a few sizes too large’ in a bid to make his ‘feet look proportional’ to his body.

Unfortunately, the discourse surrounding the president’s feet dates well beyond this past week. A social media frenzy sparked in 2023 when Trump was spotted standing on two ‘toe pads’ as spoke at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

He has also been accused on numerous occasions of putting lifts in his shoes, which critics baselessly allege is because he has lied about his 6’3″ height.

Social media did not take kindly to Trump standing on two black rectangular pads while he spoke from his Florida residence in December 2023.

X users questioned ‘what is Trump standing on’ and ‘how often does he use these?’ as they launched a wave of criticism at the then-presidential hopeful.

‘Wow. They’re finally addressed that severe forward lean that he has. I wonder if he finally face-planted before they decided to do something,’ one slammed.

Another echoed: ‘Fascinating. It looks like these pads are to prevent him from leaning forward.’

‘Toe lifts to help him not have old man posture,’ quipped another.

One user suggested that the pads were used ‘counter balances the 3-inch lifts in his shoes since he can no longer hold his own weight’. Another compared Trump’s stance to their own attempt at ‘leveling my uneven furniture’.

Some trolls went as far as to speculate that Trump needed the toe pads because of underlying health conditions.

‘That forward lean is an indicator of Frontotemporal Dementia. Some have thought he was in early stages when he ran in 2016. MAGA candidates relax: it progresses slowly,’ one said at the time.

‘Those are Anti-Frontotemporal Dementia Pads, available at most reputable heath stores nationwide,’ another user speculated.

One added: ‘Trump will be so mad at the person who took and posted this picture! His secret revealed!’

The viral image resurfaced again on Sunday as Trump faced criticisms over his legs and feet.

One X user, rushing to the president’s defense, slammed the ‘uniformed Democrats’ who were criticizing Trump and offered a clarification as to why he may have been standing on the pads.

‘For the correction, that is a sandbag at his toes. This is a technique that’s been used in the film industry for years for actors who cannot find their marks or when you can’t put tape on the floor, which could possibly damage it,’ they penned.

‘Short version, Trump hits his mark with the American people.’

Conversation about Trump’s feet was ignited once again last year after the attempt on his life at his July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

After shots rand out, Secret Service rushed to surround the Trump to insulate and shield him from further gunfire.

Initially dazed, Trump told agents: ‘let me get my shoes, let me get my shoes’ as he got up from the ground.

Trump’s security detail tackled him, removed his shoes and tossed them off the stage – during which the insoles appeared to fall out.

However, MAGA critics quickly attacked Trump, alleging that he was worried about his shoes because they were hiding secret lifts to make him appear taller.

‘We would have found out about his three inch shoe lifts,’ one user wrote.

‘The lifts are why he fell out of his shoes when the secret service tackled him,’ added another.

The discourse continued for months with conspiracy theorists continuing to push the narrative that Trump was ‘calling for his shoes because he didn’t want people to know about the lifts.’

Social media trolls shared photos from old interviews, including at least one dating back to summer 2020, which they allege proved that Trump had lifts in his shoes.

A photo of Trump standing next to Britain’s Prince William was circulated with users claiming the Republican appeared shorter than the 6’3″ prince.

Another photo of him standing next to 5’10” Vivek Ramaswamy was also touted as evidence that Trump is not as tall as he claims to be, with one user joking that he ‘lost his lifts’ ahead of their meeting.

In January this year, when Trump met with California Governor Gavin Newsom, the discussion erupted again.

Trump, who was in Los Angeles to survey the areas impacted by the deadly wildfires, was seen leaning forward as he met with Newsom.

X users argued that Trump ‘always leans’, with one alleging: ‘He leaned during his first term. He wears shoe lifts.’

‘Trump wears lifts and high heel boots to look talker,’ another added. ‘So much that his heels almost come out of his shoe which is why he uses a toe pad, so he doesn’t lean as much. It’s literally common knowledge.’

Trump’s feet went viral again this week after video shared by the grounds-keeping company that appears to service Mar-a-Lago, seemed to show Trump dragging his right leg after he seemingly struggled to get off his golf cart on Sunday.

Social media users were quick to question the President’s wellness. with many asking: ‘Is something wrong with Trump’s legs?’

One X user claimed ‘Trump moves his right leg like a piece of wood’, while others tweeted that his legs appeared to be ‘far from stable’, ‘wobbly’ and ‘pigeon-toed’. Others suggested he could be suffering from a myriad of health conditions.

Although it is impossible to diagnose Trump without a thorough examination and access to his medical records, even experts weighed in – suggesting president’s wobbly leg could be the result of a range of conditions.

A sports scientist and injury rehabilitation specialist suggested that Trump appears to be exhibiting a ‘knock knee’, a condition in which both knees bend inward.

But multiple medical doctors claimed Trump’s leg may be indicative of a more serious neuromuscular degenerative issue, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or multiple sclerosis.

Team Trump, in a statement issued Monday morning, slammed the social media flack.

Spokesman Steven Chueng said: ‘Deranged and morally bankrupt liberals — including corrupt media — have now resorted to complete falsehoods and fabricated lies because they have no shame.

‘Instead, they spend every waking hour of their pathetic lives suffering from a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted their brain.’

And if the viral golf video wasn’t enough foot content for one week, the internet also became obssesed with how Trump’s shoes look as he met with Zelensky.

Although the original photo was captured last Friday, the ‘clown shoe’ conversation erupted on Tuesday.

X users compared his shoes to ‘crumpled up garbage bags’, with one branding them his ‘Louibnotoes’.

Another quipped that Trump had a footwear malfunction, jokingly saying that ‘his shoes busted and someone used black duct tape to fix them’.

Frustrated users slammed the trolls, alleging that the photo was ‘fake’, ‘digitally manipulated’ and a ‘laughably bad AI rendering of Trump’s shoe’.

One, seemingly referencing how video of Trump’s leg apparently dragging on the golf course went viral earlier this week, said: ‘Lord you people. That’s what you’re talking about now? Don’t have anything else?’

But a poorly photoshopped version of the picture has caused an uproar on X, with users now poking fun at president about the peculiar appearance of his shoes

Despite the image being obviously photoshopped, X users were having a field day sharing the shoe picture and their insane theories along with it.

‘Spotted during Friday’s infamous meeting with Zelensky/bullying session: Trump’s shoe, with lift, is also a few sizes too large,’ one tweeted. ‘This is done to make his feet look proportional with his weight/height.’

‘Trump’s ‘special occasion’ Lift Shoes..’ said another, adding: ‘He dressed to fit in with his and Vance’s clown show..’

One user suggested Trump was wearing a ‘prosthetic’. They wrote: ‘I believe that Trump has his right foot/lower leg amputated during those two weeks where he disappeared during his campaign.

‘Look at this shoe from the Zelensky meeting. That ain’t no normal foot.’

‘His shoes look like Darth Vader,’ one said, while another jokingly asked: ‘Did a cartoon car run over his foot?! I mean that thing looks mangled.’

‘His clown shoes,’ echoed another. ‘Where are the cobblers?’

Some users, who seemingly didn’t notice that the photo had been manipulated, baselessly suggested that Trump is battling some sort of health condition that has affected his foot.

Among the suggestions were that he suffered a ‘stroke’ or has ‘diabetes‘ – despite there being no public confirmation of any such issue.

But X users quickly criticized these posters, noting how the version of the photo that they were sharing was ‘not real’.

One even branded it the ‘s****iest AI picture I have ever seen’ and joked the user ‘should have included a Santa Claus hat’. DailyMail.com has approached the White House and a Team Trump spokesperson for comment.
