Creatives are in a stir after a leading technical lobbying group claimed that it was given an extension of the deadline for the controversial AI rights consultation of the government.
The government has insisted that it did not make any exceptions to the consultation, which was officially closed last week, but Techuk told the Daily Mail that it has been given extra time to submit the entry.
This has caused indignation with artists who say it is a different sign that Silicon Valley is receiving a preferred treatment on the proposals.
The much-praised English singer-songwriter Mike Batt said he fears that technology companies are 'strategic waiting' to assess the thoughts of others before they are allowed to submit their own answers.
Bridget Jones director Baroness Kidron said it only contributes to the 'depth of distrust' above the government's proposal.
She added: 'My own opinion is that the consultation process is already dead. There are no good options for creative industries, it has a clear preference for Silicon Valley '.

Tech companies use news articles, music, books, films and art to train their AI models for years without paying publishers and makers.
The current copyright laws stipulate that makers receive automatic protection and must be compensated if it is determined that their works have been stolen.
