A mother admitted today that he killed her newborn son whose body was discovered in the forest almost 27 years ago.
The identity of the child remained a mystery until three years ago, when an investigation into a cold case unveiled a DNA link to Joanne Sharkey on the national computer of the police.
Until that time he was known as Baby Callum – named after the Callands area of Warrington, in Cheshire, near the World Park of GulliVer's World, where the child's body was found.
Sharkey was charged last April and would be tested today for the murder of the baby.
But today she pleaded guilty of manslaughter by reduced responsibility and hiding the birth of her son.
