A woman was attacked by a shark in the south of Sydney.
Brave locals brought the woman to safety after she was bitten above the right knee in Bundeena Beach, south of Gunyah Beach, just after 2 p.m. on Friday.
Ambulance censuses of Sutherland Shire Council are on site and a rescue helicopter circles the area.
Kevin McKay, who witnessed the attack, said that several bystanders ran into the water to offer help after the woman was attacked.
“We have just witnessed a shark attack in Bundeena, south of Gunyah Beach,” he said.
“A woman with deep tears above the right knee. People quickly jumped into the water to bring her to the coast and put pressure to stop bleeding.
'Local paramedics arrived within 19 minutes. I think it will be fine. '
