The wife of Gene Hackman Betsy Arakawa wanted her husband to live as long as possible, so she pushed him to stay active, although he delayed.
The resident of Hawaiian, who was of Japanese descent, “believed that staying physically fit was of the greatest importance for his health,” has told a source of Dailymail.com.
That is why Betsy – who used to work in a fitness center – did not want Gene to drive a wheelchair and preferred that he was walking with a stick, even though he was 95 years old.

Betsy always had a fascination for physical fit.

The deceased actor and his his were found dead last week in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, with researchers who say it could take weeks to determine the cause of their death.
Sheriff Adan Mendoza from Santa Fe County has now told that reporters who were discovered pills in the neighborhood of Betsy's body were of concern, but did not emphasize any conclusions about their role in the passages of the couple.

His wife Betsy was found in a bathroom next to a stove and one of their three dogs was discovered dead. The remaining two were saved alive.
Researchers try to determine the timeline of their death.
Gene's Pacemaker registered his last event on 17 February, nine days before his body was found.
Sheriff Mendoza said, “According to the pathologist, I think that is a very good assumption, that that was his last day of life.”
Authorities initially considered carbon monoxide poisoning, but later went out after an investigation by the medical investigator.
The sheriff attached a recipe bottle and scattered pills were found near Betsy and were 'significant evidence' in the case. He added: “Whether they or other medicines were a factor will not be known if toxicological tests are completed.”
Officers are expected to interview Gene's three children from his first marriage to collect more information about the last days of the couple.
