New York Knicks Center Karl-Anthony Towns has revealed that he missed the loss of Tuesday for the visiting Golden State Warriors because of the death of a good family friend called Sarah Holtzman.
Towns made the revelation to reporters when he joined the team on Thursday in Los Angeles prior to a matchup with the Lakers.
Holtzman died after a battle with breast cancer, according to an online death advertisement. Towns' girlfriend Jordyn Woods placed 'f *** cancer' on X earlier this week, so that some Knicks fans fear that it was the absent cities that fought against the disease.
The death of Holtzman follows a series of tragedies for cities, which in recent years lost his mother and six other family members to Covid-related diseases.
“I want to say that all the losses I have had, have taught me how I can appreciate life and find joy in my work,” said cities, as quoted by the New York Post. 'Not many people have the chance to have this job and play basketball for a living.
'And the problems that arose in my life and such, I know that if people were in my shoes, they would be extremely happy to have the problems I have. So just stay focused and it made me a better man. And with my mother I had used that experience when it came to this because losing a mother is tough. '

Unfortunately, the reason behind the absence of cities was not revealed until false rumors started to circulate this week via social media.
On his own podcast, Warriors Forward Drayond Green Cities suggested the match against Golden State missing from a kind of fear of Jimmy Butler.
Towns and Butler were teammates in Minnesota under the current Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau in 2018 when the two reportedly started talking during one training. The built tensions and butler were later reported by Adrian Wojnarowski to scream 'You F *** ING Need Me' with team managers in a moment of frustration with cities and other teammates.
The two have since confirmed the reports to varying degrees, but cities insisted in 2023 that he and Butler are now on good terms.
By the way, Butler's presence on the Miami Heat did not stop the cities from scoring 44 points in a win in October for the Knicks. (Butler has since been traded to Golden State)

But that fact did not stop Green from suggesting that cities were somehow afraid of playing butler on Tuesday.
“Some would say he didn't play because Jimmy was in the building,” Green told us on Thursday for former NBA point guard Baron Davis on a podcast.
“They said that Kat did not play because Jimmy came to the city and you knew him and Jimmy had a notorious practice in Minnesota,” Green added. “That's the thing. Don't know.'
The worsening of things was FS1's Chris Broussard, who took the public speculation of Green.
“There is a rumor outside,” said Broussard on FS1. “Drayond said it on his podcast … Drayond said that the word he didn't want to play against Jimmy Butler.”
