The Governor of New York Kathy Hochul gave a grim warning when she gave an update about the brutal forest fires that burn the eastern end of Long Island.
Hochul, who has served in the role since 2021, stated a state of emergency after various forest fires set fire to the beloved Hamptons enclave, close the most important motorways and force residents to flee.
In her dramatic update on Saturday evening, the governor very worried, because she said that the fire of 'a multi -day event' could be.
“This can be a multi -day event,” Hochul told CNN before he tackles extra care for residents.
The former lawyer added that she is also concerned about the safety of residents of the area, with reference to compromised air quality because of the axis and smoke that the Long Island Air is flooded.
“I am also worried about the air quality … This can shift at any time, but the air quality is absolutely affected.”
To alleviate damage, Hochul said she would send 100,000 N-95 masks to protect residents against the toxic air.
From the late Saturday evening, firefighters had extinguished three of the smaller fires and 80 percent of the Westhampton Fire – the largest of the four outbreaks on Eastern Long Island.

Nevertheless, the Governor, Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, has also worried that the upcoming weather forecast – including increased wind and usually dry conditions – can help to re -register the decreasing fire.
“The wind will keep the Sintels alive and we have to worry every day that this fire will rise again,” said Romaine.
“The gusts of wind will decrease slightly to about 25 km / h before they pick up again on Sunday morning to 40 km / h,” according to a state's press release.
During her long -awaited update, the 57th Governor of the Empire State also made a stake about the recent massive cuts on federal financing, and claimed that she 'could not trust' on the federal government to help.
Her concerns went on the workload of the local fire brigade, since the financing reductions to the National Fire Academy caused the last classes to be canceled, Newsday reported.
“We are in a crisis situation and to reduce financing for people who save our lives is deep, deeply disturbing,” Hochul said. “I don't trust the federal government.”
Until now, the Inferno – who has burned areas of Centrummoriches, East Moriches, Eastport and Westhampton – has claimed only one injury with one firefighter sent to a local hospital to be treated for a second -degree burn on his face.
