Companies In addition to an iconic theater in the center of Paris, which has been occupied by migrants for months, are confronted with bankruptcy and their owners have received death threats, MailOnline has learned.

The Gaite-Lyrique Theater has been overtaken by approximately 450 Africans who rather slept rough in the streets of the capital.

Less than half of this number was invited to a conference entitled 'De Welcome for refugees in France in the historic Playhouse in December reinvented by the theater managers.

But they were encouraged not to leave and go home there by the radical group 'Collectif des Jeunes du Parc de Belleville' who told the migrants, who all claim to be under 18, they have 'right' on 'permanent' homes because they are minors.

Local officials insist that the squatters are adults and have refused to offer alternative accommodation – effectively close the theater for almost three months.

Now business owners have accused this extreme left -wing group, named after a Parisian park where hundreds of migrants slept roughly, threatened their lives and companies and claim that they are powerless to stop their downfall.

The owner of the Bistrot de la Gaite restaurant, Elia Cordier, told MailOnline that she is almost bankrupt and did not dare to speak to the issue because she received death threats.

She told MailOnline: 'This political stunt ruined me. I lose thousands of euros every day.

'On a normal Saturday I would erase € 2,500. Today I am lucky when I make € 200. If this continues, I will be bankrupt within one or two months.

Usually the terrace of the Bistrot de la Gaite next to the theater would be packed on a clear Saturday lunch, with Parisians sucking the winter sun.

But this weekend the seats are empty, just like every chair in the traditional French restaurant.

Mrs. Cordier added: “I don't want to talk about how I think about the occupation – I have had death threats from the anarchists behind all this.”

Earlier, however, she told the Times how the antisocial behavior of the migrants had ruined the area.

Mrs. Cordier said: 'They hang around my terrace, smoke joints and fight among themselves.

'Not only we no longer get theater visitors because the theater is closed, but we also don't get passers -by. They get afraid of all these young men. '

Other local companies claim that it usually has become a quiet park for the theater a location for drug trafficking and other antisocial behavior.

And residents claim that the occupation threatens the essence of French culture.

“What happens here is the risk of running French culture,” businessman David Bayard told MailOnline while he and his wife Tiffany sipped a cup of hot chocolate while watching the African migrants around the stairs of the iconic theater.

'Paris is the center of French culture. This theater is important for French culture. We used to go to this theater. Now this occupation has taken that from us.

'There are hundreds of hotel rooms that are empty in Paris. It is not that hard to put these young people in it. '

Tiffany, 39, added: 'Why can't the state find a safe place for these people to sleep. Closing this theater is an act of cultural sabotage. '

In the meantime, three police officers arrive and the migrants sitting on banks and talk to mobile phones to leave.

The theater is also confronted with bankruptcy because the income has collapsed.

On Friday, the 60 employees, who had tried to 'manage the situation', walked outside and handed over the responsibility for the iconic theater to the Paris authority.

Residents and theater management have called on the authorities to turn off the migrants, but politicians fear that this will lead to violence that will be used as propaganda by the anarchist group.

A police sergeant said to MailOnline: 'These young African men are exploited by these extreme activists trying to cause anarchy in the streets of Paris.

'They have succeeded in hijacking this situation for their own goals.

'The Paris Prefet [Regional Governor] Has told us to maintain order, but has instructed us not to perform forced deportation, because this will simply play in the hands of the extremists.

“They want to portray the authorities in a poor light by filming a confrontation with the police and we are not going to do that.”

Representatives of the 'collective' in the theater refused to discuss the occupation when he was asked for comment.

A member told MailOnline: 'Go away. Your print lies, fascist. '

Another member pulled a Balaclava over his face as he threw insults.

The growing tide of young men from West -Africa who risk everything for a new life in France is frankly portrayed in the film 'Souleymane's Story', which won a prize at the Cannes film festival last year.

It tells how a 16-year-old boy, 'Souleymane', leaves his house in Guinea, the Sahara desert and the Mediterranean Sea to come to Paris where he works illegally as a food-lime driver, sleeping wherever he can, while his claim for asylum is processed.

Vagrancy scenes are increasingly found in the streets of the French capital, since crime becomes a growing care in Paris, whereby the northern districts are considered the most dangerous.

Robbery precious gems such as the £ 6 million robbery of the 'Jeweler to the Stars' Harry Winston in May last year and the £ 8 million Gunpoint robbery of Kim Kardashian in her boutique hotel in October 2016 will reach dramatic headlines.

But it is the minor crimes – the clandestine sale of imported cigarettes on street corners and widespread pickpocket in the metro of the city – that create an increasingly hostile atmosphere in the city.

Aggressive begging is also commonplace outside cafes and small supermarkets in tourist areas.
