It has now been five years since the post on Sunday, as so often first and alone, feared that the Covid virus was created in a laboratory leak in the Chinese city of Wuhan. If this is the case, the reaction of the world to this frightening outbreak must be investigated from top to bottom.
The implications of such a development – not least the rules and laws that arrange these kinds of experiments – are huge.
So the truth must be determined, a task that can only be achieved if whistleblowers are listened to, and large governments and the scientific establishment close together to determine the facts.
This was always difficult, because the Chinese state is secret, media are weak and flexible and his officials are completely unused to the type of research that is normally in the Free West. Media and politicians in the free world will have to do most of the heavy work. That would print enough in itself.
But as the post discovered on Sunday when we first raised this terrible opportunity, the reaction in the Democratic nations was not much better than in the Chinese people's republic, where the reaction was empty. Officialness spotted and promoted alternative explanations that have proved increasingly unbelievable.
Take Anthony Fauci, one of the most influential US doctors. He became a presidential adviser and the familiar face of medical authority in America during the Covid crisis. But he promoted a theory that has now been rejected on a large scale that the virus was naturally transferred to people by animals for sale in 'Wet Markets' in Wuhan.
Dr. Fauci kept his options very open about the possibility that it was a laboratory leak. He has stated that 'I have always been very, very clear and said several times, that I don't think the concept that there is a laboratory [leak] is inherent in a conspiracy theory '.

Now an expert of equal status, the virologist Robert Redfield, has weighed, very much for the laboratory leak theory. Dr. Redfield was director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2018 to 2021.
He said this newspaper that he is now convinced that COVID-19 was the result of scientists who were infected while performing dangerous experiments in which they tried to stimulate the infectivity of BAT viruses.
He believes that this happened partially thanks to the poor biosafety in Chinese laboratories.
He told our reporter Ian Birrell, who has strives for the story for many years, that the facts were hidden because the people involved did not want them to come out that they supported very controversially 'profit' research. This type of research was banned in the US between 2014 and 2017.

As so often when there is a strong official line to support a policy, abnormal scientists were wrongly labeled as 'conspiracy theorists', an effective dismissal, but all too often used against reasonable doubts.
Dr. Redfield also fears that security services have drawn strings to protect those involved. He believes that the Lablek took place between mid -August and September 2019, when scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology were infected, but Chinese leaders covered the outbreak.
And he reveals that he was given horrible threats to warn the danger. Such a treatment of honest, informed questions is shameful.
This is a matter of urgent, vital importance. It deserves the most serious consideration at the highest possible level.
