A huge search is underway for a student from the University of Pittsburgh who disappeared during a spring break to a resort in the Dominican Republic.
Sudiksha Konanki, 20, was last seen on March 6 at 4.50 am on the beach in Riu Republica Resort. Since then she has not been seen or heard anymore.
The news about her disappearance comes while other holidaymakers staying in the same resort went to social media to share their horrible experience because of no power or running water.
Konanki, from Chantilly, Virginia, was missing on Thursday while traveling with a group in Punta Cana, the authorities now told 13 news.
The young student would have disappeared while walking on the beach, “local officials said.
“Our office was contacted on Thursday evening about a missing woman from Loudoun County who was with a group of other people who traveled in the Dominican Republic, specifically Punta Cana,” said a spokesperson for the office of Loudoun County Sheriff in Virginia on Saturday.
Defensa Civil, a search and rescue team in the Dominican Republic, went looking for her Saturday night, but around 8 p.m. the crew called the search for the day.
“The Orange Search and Rescue Unit, together with other institutions, worked from early Saturday hours and tried to find the residence of the young woman, Sudiksha Konanki, without success,” said Defensa Civil on social media. The search went on at 5 am Sunday.

She was last seen in a two -part bikini, large round earrings, a metal designer single switch on her right leg, yellow and steel bracelets on her right wrist and multicolored bracelets on her left, the poster said.
Jared Stonesifer, a spokesperson for the University of Pittsburgh, told the outlet that the school was in contact with Konanki's family and local officials.
“We have offered our full support in their efforts to find her and bring her home safely,” said Stonesifer.
“Everyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office of Loudoun County.”
Various users recorded their experiences in the resort, because many were seen who were showered and received shop jucettes without coming out.
Another user said that WiFi was also down and noticed that “people in the lobby are who charge their phones.”

Some tourists even had to charge their devices and use fans behind the receptionist desk in the resort, another person who was shared online.
In the meantime, a group of women who stay in the resort were in the dark while ate a meal they succeeded in 'catching up together'.
“They have a restaurant to feed a few thousand people,” said another.
