A crew member of a cargo ship who has hit an oil tank in the US today is still missing, has confirmed the owner of the ship.
The owner of Solong, Ernst Russ, who was established in Hamburg, gave the worrying update tonight after the ship hit the MV Stena Immaculate, which explodes in a 'massive fireball' off the coast of Yorkshire today, which leaks around 18,000 tons of fuel in the North Sea.
Thirteen of Solong's 14 crew were brought to the coast with Ernst Russ who say that “efforts to find the missing crew member are going on.”
The Solong and the chemical tanker Stena spots were both considerably damaged during the collision, Russ added.
“Both ships have suffered considerable damage in the impact of the collision and the subsequent fire,” he said.
Stena Immaculate has confirmed that all his 23 crew members are justified.
