The death of a beloved Bali instructor at a Freak Surf -accident has turned family and friends upside down in Australia.
Samsul 'Sam' Kepompong, 33, was surfing with friends at Ekas Beach on the Indonesian island of Lombok last Friday when a big wave hit him off his plate.
The rope on his plate was broken, so that it was at the mercy of the raw ocean conditions, according to the reports of the local media.
Kepompong called to another instructor for help that could not reach him because of the massive waves.
A friend saved him by boat, but Mr. Kepompong died on his way to the medical center.
Kepompong was an Indonesian national who had family in Australia.
It is understanding that the Bali Local had traveled to the island with friends and guests from Central Lombok to give surfing lessons.
Members of the community of Mr Kepompong participated on Monday in a paddle-out in honor of him.

His Noord-NSW-in NSW established Cousin Lopan Lopan has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral arrangements and medical accounts.
Mr. Kepompong is supposed to have worked in the Front Office in a Novotel Hotel on the southern tip of Bali.
“He was a friend, uncle and son – someone whose kindness, laughter and smile made the world a better place,” said Mr. Lopan.
'Sam worked hard to maintain his family, especially his father, who is the full -time caregiver for Sam's brother with special needs.
'The last thing he would want is for his family to face financial stress while he mourns his loss.

More than $ 9,000 has been picked up in the direction of the funeral, which was held at the weekend.
The death of Mr Kepompong has resulted in an outpouring of sorrow.
