Doctors urge people to ensure that food is warming up, because this can lead to dementia incorrectly.
The use of plastic containers in microwaves after a new study found a shocking amount of microplastics in the brain of dementia patients.
A group of researchers recently conducted a study and discovered that the use of plastic containers in the microwave exposes people to microplastics and thought that the toxins are accumulating in the human brain.
It revealed that about a tablespoon of microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPs) were discovered in the brain and levels were three to five times higher in people diagnosed with dementia.
Micro and nanoplastics are small plastic much less than five millimeters long that can damage DNA and increase the risk of cancer.
Researchers also discovered that the concentration of plastics in the body was seven to 30 times higher in the brain compared to other organs such as the liver or kidney.
MNPs are also linked to cell death, changes in intestinal microbiome, the formation of blood clots and an increased risk of heart attacks.
In response to the study, a group of doctors offered ways to reduce exposure to MNPs, including the overthrow of plastic containers when heating food in the microwave.

Dr. Nicholas Fabiano, from the Ministry of Psychiatry of the University of Ottawa and the main author of the commentary noted: 'The dramatic increase in the microplastic concentrations of the brain for only eight years, from 2016 to 2024, is particularly alarming.
“This increase reflects the exponential increase that we see in microplastic levels of the environment.”
Dr. Brandon Luu, a resident of internal medicine at the University of Toronto, explained that heating food in plastic containers can cause the release of BPA and phthalates in the air that can then be absorbed by your food and your body can infiltrate while eating.
BPA, shortly before Bisphenol A, and phthalates are industrial chemicals that are sometimes added to plastic as part of the production process to make them more sustainable.
Dr. Luu said in the Eureka Journal paper: 'Food heating in plastic containers – especially in the microwave can release significant amounts of microplastics and nanoplastics.
“Avoiding plastic storage of food and the use of glasses or stainless steel alternatives is a small but meaningful step in limiting exposure.”
Heating plastics is one of the largest factors of chemical exposure, and the Mayo Clinic warned forever chemicals found in plastics are released when the item is heated.
Separately, researchers from the University of Nebraska discovered in a study from 2023 that microwaving plastic containers release billions of nanoplastics and millions of microplastics per square centimeter of a plastic container.
The Nebraska team further discovered that embrysotic kidney cells died two days after they were exposed to those particles.
A separate study from 2024 by researchers in India showed that plastics or food quality food that had been in contact with the plastic is heated, BPA is released and logs out in the food item 'and is therefore consumed, making it a potential candidate for causing serious health risks.'

Another major driver of exposure to MNPs is drinking water.
Dr. Luu noted that switching from bottle to filtered tap water could only reduce the microplastic intake from 90,000 to 4,000 particles per year.
He said: 'Only bottled water can expose people to almost as many microplastic particles a year as all taken and inhaled sources together.
“Switching to tap water can reduce this exposure by almost 90 percent, making it one of the simplest ways to reduce microplastic intake.”
Recently, a leading fertility scientist also advised people to remain free from the use of plastic containers in the microwave because of the potential impact on fertility.
Dr. Shanna Swan, an epidemiologist at the ICAHN School of Medicine on Mount Sinai in New York, warned that the consumption of BPA and phthalates can cause chemicals released when warming up a container in the microwave, fertility problems in a podcast.
It is said of BPA that it can 'imitate' the estrogen of the female sex hormone, which in high doses may be able to disturb the normal hormone balance that is thought that it is feeding tumors.
Falatians are also supposed to harm fertility as a result of the disturbance of hormones, in particular the male sex hormone, testosterone.
However, evidence suggests that the ovaries of women are also adversely affected.
