The date of the journey from the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House to commemorate their Super Bowl Lix victory has been confirmed.

After officially accepting Donald Trump's invitation to Washington DC, the ruling Super Bowl champions were set on 28 April, Minister Van Witte Huis Pers Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed Tuesday.

“I know there was many fake news about an invitation that was or was not sent, we want to correct the record.” Leavitt said. “We sent an invitation and they were enthusiastically accepted and you will see them on April 28.”

After their victory – a thunderous 40-22 victory over Kansas City's chiefs – it was speculated that the Eagles would reject the traditional audience with the President in the White House.

But later it turned out that the team would be 'honored' to visit Trump's White House, in which the president then instructed his assistants to send the invitation at the end of last month.

It will mark the first visit of the team to the White House during a Trump presidency after an invitation during the first term of the president in controversy.

After their Super Bowl -victory 2018 – their first in the branch history – some Eagles players said they would not attend the celebration of the White House because of Trump's criticism of football players who kneeled or raised their fists during the folk song in protest of racial injustice and police violence.

During a meeting in 2017, Trump said that the protests 'hurt the game' and said that NFL owners should dismiss players who did.

Malcolm Jenkins, then from the Eagles, was at the time one of the NFL players to protest because he would raise his fist during the national anthem. Rodney McLeod did the same.

In the end, the Eagles had decided to send a small group of fewer than 10 players – as Mike Garafolo from NFL Network reported at the time.

In response, Trump withdrew the invitation for the team and held a patriotic celebration instead.
