Virginia officials have mentioned a person of interest in the disappearance of the American student Sudiksha Konanki in the Dominican Republic.
Sudiksha Konanki, 20, disappeared from a five -star resort in Punta Cana on Thursday during the spring break of the University of Pittsburgh. Although the body of the pre-med student has not been found, the local authorities believe that they drowned.
The Sheriff's Office of Loudoun County has now identified 24-year-old Joshua Riibe as a person of interest, as reported by Komo News. The inhabitant of Iowa was the last person who was assumed to have seen Konanki.
The Sheriff office clarified: “This is not a criminal case at the moment, which would otherwise be.”
A source close to the research told DailyMail.com that Riibe, 24, was a former high school strainer, 'cooperative'. He is still in Punta Cana, but is currently not considered a suspect by the local authorities.
Dominican authorities are currently in possession of his passport, but there is nothing to prevent him from collecting it legally and flying back to the US, the source explained.

Riibe and Konanki were going to the beach together on March 6 at 4 o'clock in the morning.
They were part of a larger group of her friends. At 5:55 am the others went back to their rooms and left Riibe and Sudiksha on the beach.
According to Riibe, the couple went for a swimming, but it was trapped by a large wave. Riibe says he was climbing back to the coast and then fell asleep. Sudiksha was never seen again.
Her body has not yet been found, but the Dominican police remains convinced that they drowned.
