A parent British couple who withdrew to Thailand was found guilty of abuse, despite CCTV images that show that they were the victim of a wild beating by their kickboxing.
Des and Mary Byrne, from Middlesbrough, were battered and bruised in 2023 after a brutal attack on a planning dispute.
But they were found guilty yesterday at a Thai court of abuse and damage despite images that show that they were attacked in the Hua Hin beach resort.
Byrne, 77, was cold eliminated by his male kickboxing neighbor, who then kept hitting him while he was on the floor a total of 22 times.
In the meantime, his wife, 69, suffered a broken nose and a bleeding on the brain when she was attacked by a woman she said she hit and kicked until she fell into a flower bed where she seems to be stamped then.
The Byrnes feared that they would have to serve time behind bars, but received a 20-day conditional punishment and a fine of £ 400.
Byrne said to the sun: “We are extremely relieved.”
Their neighbors, both in the 40S, were arrested and initially denied the charges in May 2024, but later changed their plea in guilty and were instructed to pay reimbursements, according to the Byrnes.

But the case took a shocking turn when their house was overwhelmed by Thai police officers who subsequently arrested them for against the causes of 'superficial injuries and mental fear'.
Retired chemical engineer Mr Byrne and retired nurse Mrs. Byrne claimed that they had been brought to court because they refused to pay for a briefcase.
The couple now say that they will pick up their passports tomorrow before they fly back to Great Britain.
“We're fine – even though we are found guilty,” they said
'There was a long period of investigation in court because it was said that we had caused contempt from the court because of the coverage of our case. We denied it. '
The couple had spent every cent of their savings to erase their names, including selling their pension home.
The Byrnes moved to the Resort City on the Thai Riviera in 2021 and used their hard -earned savings to build a £ 200,000 villa to live there.
But that dream soon turned into a 'horror beyond their worst nightmare' when they were in the middle of a dispute over country access.
Their new life took a dark turn when they say they came home from a store trip to find developers who carry out construction work on their country.
Their neighbors told them they had the access road and broke a row.

The Byrnes discovered that the couple had no legal right to the country and managed to block them to develop for three months.
But the tensions would have reached the boiling point when they discovered the couple in their garden and the disagreement changed into physical violence.
In December 2023 the couple heard a commotion in their garden and went outside to see that two people are cracking their plants.
They confronted the couple, a few from in the forties said they had been their neighbors and said they had to leave the building.
But the public man, supposed to be out of the UK, then launched a cruel attack on them helped by his partner, a Thai subject, who was trapped at CCTV.
