Dawn Robinson, one of the founders of the R&B Girl-Group and Vogue, just revealed that she is homeless and lived in her car for the past three years.
The 58-year-old singer told fans how she fell at difficult times in a heartbreaking video posted on YouTube on Tuesday.
It only comes a few weeks after her former band announced that they would go to a lucrative European tour, even gushing about bringing another member to the group and call her their 'sister'.
But Dawn, who left the band for the first time in 1997, has a much less glamorous reality she explained fans.
'If you were with me, what did I like in 2020 105k interviews and in the meantime I lived with my parents [Las] Vegas and that was great until it wasn't. I love my mother [Barbara Alexander] But she got very angry and [she was taking] Much of her anger on me.
“I was her target all the time and I had something like that:” I can't handle this. ” Like, I respect her too much. I didn't understand, I still don't do it, it hurt me. '
The manager of the eight-fold Grammy-nominated offered her to stay in his $ 1,700/month apartment in Los Angeles, but there was 'not enough space' for her because they both had dogs (her 16-year-old dog Max has died since then).
'So it has become:' Okay, I'm going to place you in a hotel for the night. And that one night was eight months [at $3K/month]. Oh my God, you, I had something like: “No, this is unacceptable”, Dawn spotted.

Dawn Robinson (L, depicted in 1990), one of the founders of the R&B Girl-Group and Vogue, has just revealed that she is homeless and lived in her car for the past three years

“I said, oh my God, it's out!” The 58-year-old singer wondered on Tuesday in her YouTube vlog
By 2022, Robinson investigated the 'Autolife' culture and decided to give it a chance: 'I felt free. I felt that I was on a camping trip. It just felt like it was good to do. '
The Belter, born in Connecticut, spent her first night in her car in Malibu – probably the Paradise Cove Mobile Home Park – which she called 'Scary'.
“But when I learned to know what to do in my car and how to do it, such as, how to cover my windows and you don't talk to certain people,” Dawn noted.
'You ensure that you tell people that you are alone as a woman, and I am a celebrity [so] I don't reveal that to people alone. '
Robinson immediately enjoyed 'the feeling of freedom' that she felt: 'I felt like I was on a camping trip. I just had the feeling that it was good to do. I have not regretted it. You know, many celebrities have lived in their car. '
There is indeed a long list of celebrities that have fallen over the years at difficult times, including Hilary Swank, Jewel, Steve Harvey, Kelly Clarkson, Sam Worthington, Drew Carey, Suze Orman and Tyler Perry.
But not compassion for the lyrical soprano, because life in her car was a choice she needed to 'go through this fire' and she has her brother Evin, assistant niecy and 'forever mother-in-law' to support.
“You may have heard of something that is called the Dark Night of the Soul,” Dawn explained.

The eight-fold Grammy nominated moved to her parents in 2020 until her mother Barbara Alexander 'took a lot of her anger'

By 2022, Robinson investigated the 'Autolife' culture and decided to give it a chance: 'I felt free. I felt that I was on a camping trip. It just felt like it was good to do '
'That is when you continue as a period of isolation, a period of separating yourself from family and friends, and I am sure I am now in the trenches. [But] I would not exchange my experiences and what I experienced for the world. '
Robinson has proven that she still has her sense of humor, laughed: 'So you know, I have a membership of a gym and I shower there. I am a funky diva, but I am not funky! '
The Free Your Mind Hitmaker has proudly filmed her journey for a future documentary and provides her any revival.
“I mean, society tends to look down on people because they live off-grid when I tell you, net schedule is exactly what many people are going to do,” said Dawn, and urges her fans to do something 'scary'.
'Would I have an apartment now if I had a choice? I would. I'm not going to lie, but I'm glad I did this. Absolutely proud of what I have achieved here. '
