A man fights for his life after being attacked by a dog that is considered an XL bully in the backyard of a house.
Armed police and a specialized dog unit were called to scene on Ripon Drive yesterday around 4.40 pm, West Bromwich, yesterday after reports of a dog attack.
A wounded man was treated by paramedics before being taken to the hospital, the police said.
The dog was beaten by officers and died on the spot, the power added.
The police have placed a cordon around the home of West Midlands and first auxiliary parafernalia is spread over the garden.
A spokesperson for the West Midlands police said: 'We continue to investigate after a man was seriously injured when he was attacked by a dog in West Bromwich.
'We were called at 4.40 pm yesterday (March 14) to journey. A man in twenty was found with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition in the hospital.
“The dog was beaten by officers and died on the spot. After a first assessment, it is assumed that the dog was an XL bully.

A hard -handed performance when limiting the breeding and sale of XL bullying heads was introduced on December 31, 2023, after a wave of horrible attacks on the public.
The prohibition, which was fully influenced in February last year, made it a criminal offense to possess or possess an XL Bully Dog in England and Wales without a valid certificate of exemption.
It is also a violation to sell or leave an XL best dog, or to have it stray. And it is illegal to have an XL pest head in public without a leading role and snout.
Owners whose dogs are dangerous are considered to be the violation of the law, and punishments, including prison time, disqualification of ownership or euthanasia of the dog can be enforced.
Dog attacks have risen by a fifth in a year, where the police register more than 80 incidents per day.
Police troops registered 30,539 offenses of a dog that injured a person or a guide dog last year – an increase of 25,291 in 2022.
In 2023 there were more than 6,000 registered incidents of dog bites that required hospital treatment.
