An Indian student at Columbia University who had withdrawn their visa was seen 'self-thoughting' after the Trump administration had established students who were assumed to support terrorist groups.
The Ministry of Justice is investigating whether Columbia has hidden 'illegal alien beings' on its campus, while the Trump administration intensified its campaign to deport foreigners who participated in anti-Israeli protests that the school affected last year.
Earlier this week, Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian man with a green card, was held by ICE for his role in the demonstrations.
The Trump government said on Friday that it had withdrawn the visa of Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian citizen and doctoral student in Columbia, for “arguing for violence and terrorism.”
Srinivasan entered the United States on an F-1 student visa as a doctoral student in city planning at Columbia University.
They were involved in activities to support Hamas, a terrorist organization. On March 5, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs withdrew its visa.
The Department of Homeland Security has obtained video images from Srinivasan using the BP Home app to deport itself on 11 March.
Officials did not say what proof they had that Srinivasan had argued.

“It is a privilege to get a visa to live and study in the United States of America,” said DHS secretary Kristi.
'If you argue for violence and terrorism, that privilege must be withdrawn and you should not be in this country. I am happy to see that one of the terrorist sympathizers of Columbia University uses the CBP Home app to turn off yourself. '
CBP Home is a revised mobile phone -app once used to have migrants requested for asylum, which changes a system that makes people live illegally in the US to say they want to leave the country voluntarily.
The renewed app, announced on Monday and now that CBP Home is mentioned, is part of the administration campaign to encourage 'self -declaration,' promoted as an easy and cost -effective way to push along the pressure of President Donald Trump to discard millions of immigrants without legal status.
“The app offers illegal aliens in the United States with a simple way to explain their intention to leave voluntarily, and offers them the opportunity to leave before they have strict consequences,” said Pete Flores, the acting Commissioner for US Customs and Border Protection, in a statement.
A third Columbia student, inhabitant of the West Bank Leqaa Kordia, was arrested by Ice Officers in Newark, New Jersey for transcending a decline F-1 student visa.
Her visa was terminated on January 26, 2022 due to a lack of presence.
Earlier, Kordia was arrested in April 2024 for her involvement in what DHS 'Pro-Hamas' protests called at Columbia University in New York City.

Agents at the Department of Homeland Security searched two homes in Columbia with an order on Thursday evening.
No one was arrested and it was unclear who the authorities were looking for, but by Friday afternoon American officials had announced developments with regard to the two people they had pursued in connection with the demonstrations.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who spoke at the Ministry of Justice, said that it was all part of the president's mission to end anti -Semitism in this country. '
“Last night we worked together with the Ministry of Interior Security to conduct searches of an investigation into Columbia University for inns and hiding illegal alien beings on campus,” said Blanche.
“That investigation is underway and we also look at whether Columbia's handling with earlier incidents has violated civil rights laws and included terrorist crimes.”
Blanche did not say what agents had about misconduct from the university. It was unclear whether he himself accused the school of 'terrorist crimes' or said that people involved in the protests had committed such crimes.
Khalil, 29, a Palestinian who was born and raised in Syria, helped protests against Israel in Columbia in Leiden last year.
He also acted as a negotiator between students and university officials.

The protests were allowed to walk unbridled for two weeks. They were characterized by violent attacks and cases of Jewish students who were afraid to go to class.
He was custody by Ice Agents on Saturday evening in his apartment of his university.
The Ministry of Interior Security, which confirmed the arrest of Khalil on Sunday, claimed that he had “led activities that were tailored to Hamas” and that the DHS campaign was undertaken “in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
The president accused Khalil of being 'pro-haamas' and Rubio stated that the US would withdraw visa and green cards from 'Hamas supporters in America'.
The supporters of Khalil say that his arrest is an attack on free speech and organizes protests in the city and throughout the country.
He was held in an immigration -detention center in Louisiana, where he stayed after a short stop at a Lock -up in New Jersey.
Khalil is not accused of a crime. He is also married to an American citizen. His wife is eight months pregnant.
His arrest has inflamed a fierce debate about whether the Trump government has violated its first change rights by holding him and trying to deport him.
A short hearing on Wednesday was largely aimed at jurisdiction, but one of the lawyers of Khalil told the judge that they have not had any lawyer-client protected phone call with him.
Rubio shot back on critics of Khalil's arrest and said it is 'not about free speech'.
'If you come to the United States as a visitor, what a visa is, that is how this person entered this country, on a visitor visa, you are here as a visitor. We can deny you that visa, “argued the American top diplomat.

Rubio also said that if they end up on a green card with such activities, the US will kick someone out.
