Happy Valley star James Norton hit the internet -scummer after the mail intervened on Sunday to prevent them from stealing a widow to £ 10,500.
Mos -reader Rosemarie Cohen believed that she exchanged messages with Mr. Norton, 39, for almost a year after he apparently liked one of her Facebook messages.
They were often in contact on social media several times a day and one message from him reads: 'Rise and Shine! Send your love and sunshine to start your day! '
The retired grandmother of two, 59, thought she had built up a real friendship with Mr. Norton and then the requirements for money began.
CON artists who claimed that they were working for him told her that she could arrange a meet-and-grreet experience with him for £ 3,000 and a subsequent 'private measurement Up' for £ 7,000.
The scammers called themselves Steve Anderson and Richard Williams and said they worked for the Artists Partnership Agency, the London -based talent company that represents the actor.
In addition to the meetings, they also offered MS Cohen a role that worked for Mr Norton-Zolang she paid £ 500 for a non-discovery agreement (NDA) to be drawn up to protect his confidentiality before she could join his personal team.
But Mrs. Cohen smelled a rat and contacted this newspaper. We were able to intervene and the actual representatives of Mr. Norton remained apparent when we revealed what had happened.

They told the mail on Sunday on behalf of Mr. Norton: 'It is terrible that scammers exploit fans via fake -famous social media accounts. We urge people to be vigilant and never communicate with someone who claims to be a celebrity about non -rewarded accounts.
'I can confirm that neither James nor one of his representatives have communicated with Mrs. Cohen or even anyone else in this capacity. As a reference, there is no one at the artist's partner called Steve Anderson or Richard Williams. '
Mrs. Cohen said to De Mos: 'I am really very crushed. I really believed it was James Norton. I can't believe I fell for him. At least there is a good thing – I don't have to buy new clothes to meet him. I feel a bit like a fool.
'I want to thank the mail on Sunday for exposing this scam. I hope it encourages others to be more careful when dealing with people online. '
