Employees of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) would be completely 'paralyzed' in the middle of the tax season, while Chaos reigns the supreme after the arrival of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) by Elon Musk (Doge) by Elon Musk.
The tax company that has long been a target for Republicans, plans to eliminate 20% to 25% of its workforce by 15 May, according to a person who was informed about the plans of the agency.
The agency has been turmen with indoor sources that say that the future of the American tax extraction itself is staggering at the edge of collapse.
The IRS had around 100,000 employees when Trump took office, which means that a maximum of 25,000 lose their jobs.
The aim of 20% to 25% includes the approximately 5,000 IRS employees who took a buy -out last month and possibly 7,000 probation workers who were dismissed, although judicial statements can lead to the recovery of probation staff, the person said.
'They just randomly fall along the offices of people and demand access to systems; They bully us and there is no discipline in what they do, which really worries me, “said an IRS employee during a muted phone call with CNN.
“It's a cluster…, and I can't believe that nobody steps in to do anything.”
It all started quietly on a gray morning in mid-February when Gavin Kliger, a 25-year-old Tech Wiz who apparently was picked directly from a boot camp in Silicon Valley.

Kliger marched the IRS headquarters in Washington DC without as much as a safety escort.
Surprised Staff members say that his mission was to grab control of the tax administration of the IRS.
Within a few minutes, Kliger reportedly demanded access to databases that contain the sensitive financial data of millions of American taxpayers. This data is protected under some of the strictest confidentiality laws in the federal government.
“He just walked in as if he had the place as if decades of taxpayers trust, laws and protection did not matter,” an experienced IRS manager recalled.
Kliger was soon accompanied by Sam Corcos, a 36-year-old entrepreneur whose previous performance includes the design of diet apps.
Corcos was there to cut the fat off the IRS quickly became his favorite word.
Employees say that he has terminated almost all IRS programs that have been financed for the current tax year – programs that are specifically designed to modernize the tax return process and to improve customer service for millions of Americans.
“They will come in and say that we will remove that initiative -'Delete' is one of their favorite conditions,” said an IRS employee. '

'So we are correct to find out: does Sam have that authority? Does Gavin have that authority? Has treasury given them that authority? '
While the Doge agents are grabbing in, the victims began to mount.
By March, thousands of IRS employees were already fired – everyone from auditors to customer service – representatives – while Doge pushed a radical plan to eliminate nearly 20% of the workforce before the deadline of 15 May.
More than 110 auxiliary offices for taxpayers will be closed, leaving huge parts of the country without personal help during the busiest tax season of the year.
An atmosphere of despair has now retained within the walls of IRS offices.
“It is now a routine to see people cry in the office,” said a trade union leader outside Washington. “Managers walk around and apologized for the dismissal where they had no decision.”
Another source stated it: “We are paralyzed.”
Veteran tax experts sound about what they see as a deliberate disintegration of the IRS, with in -depth consequences for the entire American government.
Nina Olson, who spent almost two decades as the independent lawyer of the taxpayer, described the cutbacks to “in principle dive off the office.”
“You have fired a lot of new blood, that should be the future of the staff,” Olson told CNN.

'Then you have the most skilled people, at the height of their institutional knowledge, who retire. None of this is good for the taxpayers. '
With the processing of returns and issuing reimbursements of the steering machine for the time being, the real danger is just further in the near future with paralyzing delays, surrounding waiting times for customer service and a tax system that is more vulnerable to fraud and abuse.
The once firming customer service statistics of the IRS have been set to return as a result of the cut.
The average waiting time, which was brought down in 2022 to only three minutes last year of 28 minutes, will probably go back to pre-reform Chaos.
“In many cases, those long waiting times ended with a courtship connection,” an IRS employee complained. “They just hung up on you – so we're going back to those days.”
The IRS leadership is also in free fall.
After the commissioner Danny Werfel appointed by Biden resigned on the Inauguration Day, without waiting for the end of his five -year period, chaos ruled.
His acting successor only retired weeks later and Trump's nominated, former Gop conferreslid Billy Long, is still waiting for the confirmation of the Senate.
Melanie Krause, now acting head of the desk, has only three and a half years IRS experience under her belt.
So far, Elon Musk has remained silent. Gop rep. Pete Sessions has wiped the role of Musk and said that Musk is trying to get the astronauts back from space 'and is more interested in the White House photo opportunities than running the IRS -but the fingerprints of Musk's budget -busting ideology are everywhere.
In a Bloomberg-on-Ed compared Werfel Doge's brutal demands on 'the CEO of a bank that enters a branch and demands access to all the safe floors of customers'.
Most hair -raising of all are accusations that the true mission of doge can go much further than cutting budgets – to arming tax data against immigrants without papers.

According to sources, DHS has distributed a memo in which the IRS is asked for radical amounts of data about immigrants who used individual identification numbers of the taxpayer (ITIN) to pay taxes.
These include home addresses and employment information – data that is strictly protected under federal legislation.
Two IRS insiders say that doge agents are already looking for ways to facilitate these transfers-a movement that warn of immigrant rights proponents would lead to mass arrests and deportations, contrary to the decades of the taxpayer of the taxpayer.
Two immigrant rights groups have sued the IRS and Treasury and warned that if DOG succeeds, their members can suffer damage in the form of the arrest, detention or other detergent of freedom associated with the indicated intention of the Trump government to take massive actions against immigrants. '
While Americans hurry to submit taxes, most do not know that behind the scenes the agency responsible for the financing of the government is dismantled before their eyes.
