Pope Francis said in his last Sunday prayer, published from his hospital bed, that he is confronted with a 'period of process'.
According to his medical team in the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, the 88-year-old Pope is no longer in a critical condition after being admitted to bronchitis in the facility on Friday, Sky News reported.
However, his age and lack of mobility means that he remains in a physically vulnerable state.
In his traditional Sunday Angelus prayer, the Pope added: 'I share these thoughts with you while I am for a period of testing, and I participate with so many brothers and sisters who are sick: fragile, at the moment, like me.
“Our bodies are weak, but even in this way we can prevent us from loving, praying, giving ourselves, being for each other, in faith, shiny signs of hope.”
The pope usually delivers prayer – on the second Sunday of Lent – from a window with a view of St. Peter's Square for the Vatican.
