A British restaurant boss fights for his life in Thailand after he was demolished by a few Russian tourists on a powerful engine.
Ricky Eury, 39, was seriously head injury when he was hit by the Xmax engine bike from Sergei Medvedev while he crossed the road in Phuket on Saturday lunch.
Medvedev and his wife Svetlana, who was driving, were arrested on the spot, while Ricky was taken from Bristol to the hospital where doctors discovered that he had several skull fractures, broken ribs, a broken nose and bleeding on the brain.
His ailing parents, destroyed girlfriend Hannah Ryan and younger brother Joey, jumped to Thailand on the first flight after they received heartbreaking news that Ricky cannot last the night.
But when landing they discovered that they would have to pay a maximum of £ 10,000 a day to continue Ricky's treatment – because the severity of his head injury means that he cannot share travel insurance details with them.
Ricky's friend Solomon Wilkinson, 36, who launched a GoFundMe page to pay the hospital bills, explained: 'Ricky has been unconscious, so we cannot confirm his insurance information.
“His family today had to pay the hospital the equivalent of £ 10,000 on his third day of the treatment.”
Mama Annette Eury, 73, added: 'He has just started talking, but he only has a two -minute memory.

“He keeps asking if he can get up. And then two minutes later he again asks the same question. '
Hannah, 39, said MailOnline: 'When I heard what had happened to Ricky, I was worried that he would not live when we arrived there.
“My whole world has collapsed.”
Dad George Eury, 66, explained: 'We found out that Ricky was injured at 8 am on Saturday morning – I was completely destroyed.
“I heard Ricky scream in the background when his friend was on the phone for us. His friend said we had to go on it quickly.
“He told us that Ricky had suffered a serious head injury. We didn't know if he was going to live or die.
“My biggest fear was that I would not see him alive anymore. So after I put the phone, I booked the lights that night out. '
Mama Annette added: 'That was the longest 24 hours of my life.

“When we were in the air, we couldn't contact someone, so we didn't know if he would live when we arrived there.”
Ricky was transferred to the Intensive Care of the Bangkok hospital Phuket and survived the first 36 hours, which are crucial for serious head injury.
The 39-year-old, whose Gorilla Thai Keukens in Bristol were nominated for Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year in 2024, was in Phuket for Thai boxing training since February.

Dad George, a retired fishing manager, from Devon, explained: 'Ricky is very strong and is very in his fitness.

'But we don't know what the future has in store. We don't know if he has received brain damage or what.
'We are currently living from day after day, hour after hour.
“We have stayed in Thailand for so long.
“We have obligations at home, but Ricky comes first.”
Hospital doctors say they are convinced that Ricky will recover from his injuries, but have warned that it will probably take some time.
