Pankaj Lamba, formerly from Corby, Northhamptonshire, is accused of the murder of his wife Harshita Brella in his absence, said the Crown Prosecution Service.
An international manhunt was launched for Lamba in November 2024 after the discovery of his wife's body in the boot of a car in Ilford, East, where the police said he had thought he had fled the country at the time.
Samantha superficial from the Crown Prosecution Service said: 'The Crown Prosecution Service has assessed a file of evidence that has been submitted by the police of Northamptonshire and has an accusation of murder against the 23-year-old Pankaj Lamba with regard to the death of Harshita Brella.

'The Crown Prosecution Service reminds of all those involved that criminal procedures are active and the defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there may be no reporting, comments or sharing information online, which can harm these procedures in any way. '
Senior research officer Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell added: 'We are committed to securing justice for Harshita and her family and continue to offer our support at this difficult time.
'It remains an active investigation and as such there will remain aspects of the case that we cannot comment on at the moment. We would encourage all parties to respect the judicial process to guarantee the integrity of the procedure. '
The charges were made on Wednesday at the Hof van Northamptonshire Magistrates.
