Keir Starmer held crisis talks with VolodyMyr Zelensky last night after Donald Trump's two -hour call with Putin ended with more Russian requirements.
The prime minister made up the balance with the Ukrainian president after Moscow only corresponded to a limited cessation -the energy on energy -infrastructure -instead of the unconditional stuff -the US who wanted the US.
Putin also laid out that he would not accept a settlement without 'full stopping of foreign military aid and the provision of information to Kiev'. That is probably unacceptable for the Lord Zensky and European allies.
Mr. Trump described the conversation with the Russian dictator as 'Great' last night and insisted that he worked to avoid 'Second World War'.
But Boris Johnson belonged to the British politicians who warned that Putin “laughs at us for us,” while former defense secretary Ben Wallace said that the Russian “plays better chess than Trump” and accused the US of haunting a “rotten” deal.
The American and Russian leaders agreed to try a package to stop attacks on the power network of Ukraine, as well as Kyiv's raids about the critical refineries of Russia.
Mr. Trump expressed the hope that would pave the way for a maritime -the fires in the Black Sea, and then a complete and long -term end of the fights.
But almost immediately there was another round of Russian attacks on Ukraine, in which the Lord called Zelensky for action after Putin had rejected the proposal for a complete -the Fires'.

A Downing Street spokeswoman said: “The prime minister spoke with President Zensky tonight.
“They discussed progress that President Trump had made in the direction of a cease -the fire in conversations with Russia.
“President Zensky has updated the situation on the front line and repeated the prime minister (the non -repellent support of the UK.”
NO10 had previously given a very guarded response to the outcome of the call, referring to 'the progress that President Trump has made to a cease -the fire'.
The spokeswoman added: 'This process must lead to a just and permanent peace for Ukraine.
“We will be at Ukraine as long as it is necessary to ensure that Russia can never launch an illegal invasion again.”
Trump told Fox News that he 'wanted' the war and suggested that “Russia has the benefit.”
The Republican said: “At the moment you have many weapons that point to each other and a cease -the fires without going a little further would have been difficult.”
He argued that his urge for a ceasefish -the fire was part of a larger offer to keep our troops out of conflict.
'Look, we do this – there are no Americans involved. There could be if you end up here in the Second World War, which is so ridiculous, “he said. “But you know, strange things happen.”
Mr Zelensky said that he would support the American efforts to stop strikes on the energy network of his country.
But the Ukrainian leader said he hoped to talk to Mr Trump to understand what he and the Russian leader are discussing.
After a fresh round of Russian attacks last night, Mr Zelensky said: 'Today, Putin effectively rejected the proposal for a completely cease -the fire.
'It would be good for the world to respond by rejecting all Putin's attempts to extend the war. Sanctions against Russia.
'Help with Ukraine. Strengthening allies in the free world and working on security guarantees.
“And only a real stopping of strikes about civil infrastructure by Russia, as proof of its willingness to end this war, can bring peace closer.”
Western countries, including the UK, have convicted Russia for attacks on facilities used to generate electricity for the Ukrainian population, although the Kremlin has denied that such strikes have taken place.
In anticipation of crunch conversations between the two presidents, David Lammy indicated that the UK and the EU are planning to accelerate arms to Ukraine prior to a completely cease -the fire.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said Bloomberg that the European allies of KYIV intended to place “Ukraine in the strongest possible position militarily and economically.”
Mr Lammy and Minister of Defense John Healey both met Kaja Kallas, the high representative of the EU on Foreign Affairs, to discuss Ukraine and the safety of Europe.
In conversation with Mrs. Kallas, Mr. Healey said that the UK and the EU acknowledged the need to “maintain our strong support for Ukraine.”
According to the White House, Mr. Trump and Mr Putin were once in their call 'that the movement towards peace will start with an energy and infrastructure -the fire, as well as technical negotiations about the implementation of a maritime -the fires in the Black Sea, full -fires and permanent peace.
“These negotiations start immediately in the middle.”
In the meantime, the Kremlin said that Mr Putin said Mr. Trump that America and his allies should end Military and Intelligence Assistance to Ukraine to stop hostilities.
The prime minister spoke with Mr Trump prior to the call on Monday.
He and French President Emmanuel Macron have made efforts to form a 'coalition of the willing' consisting of countries willing to offer troops or support to a peace force if there is a deal to end the war.
Mr Putin said that he in principle corresponds to a cease -the fire, but has set a series of conditions for every peace plan.
The US President said that Washington and Moscow have already started discussing 'the distribution of certain assets' between Ukraine and Russia as part of a deal to end the conflict, including that Mr Putin can hand over land and power plants by KYIV.
Such a step would cause unrest in Europe, seen as a reward for the Russian invasion of his neighbor.
