Malaysia has agreed the conditions to resume the search for the wreck of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 with an Ocean Exploration Firm, said the Minister of Transport on Wednesday.
Flight MH370, a Boeing 777, wore 227 passengers and 12 crew members when it was on their way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in 2014 in one of the world's largest aviation mysteries.
The decision will make the start of the search activities of seabed possible at a new location that covers an estimated 5,790 square miles in the Southern Indian Ocean, based on a 'no find, no fee' principle, said Minister Loke Siew Fook.
Exploration company Ocean Infinity receives $ 70 million if the wreck is successfully, he said.
“The government strives to continue the search operation and to close the families of the MH370 passengers,” Loke said in a statement.
The government said in December that it had in principle agreed with Ocean Infinity's proposal to resume the hunt for MH370.
The company had carried out the last search for the plane that ended in 2018, but failed two attempts.
