NSW's murder team commander Danny Doherty has announced that he will retire with the police after four decades.
Doherty joined the Police Academy in Goulburn, 195 km southwest of Sydney, in January 1985.
He worked hard and was promoted to a researcher in 1994 and theft and serious crime officer in 2018.
Doherty eventually achieved his top position in December 2019 and became known for his media performances.
His last day at work is April 10, 2025.
