As early as 2025, a succession of commercial aircraft accidents unfortunately demanded the lives of more than 100 people – including the last in the Caribbean Sea.
Tragically enough, at least 12 people were killed in the incident on Monday in front of the island of Ratan, including Aurelio MartÃnez, a much -praised Honduran musician.
Heartbreaking images show the site of a fatal aircraft accident, where fishermen had to take action to pull victims out of the water.
It only comes a month after the Delta Connection flight 4819 was turned upside down during a crash landing on Toronto Airport, who fortunately did not kill anyone.
That incident followed a devastating collision for the air in Washington DC at the end of January, when all 67 people died on board a flight from the American Airlines and an army helicopter.
And at the end of last year Jeju Air Flight 2216 crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea when it hit a concrete wall and killed 179 people.
So why have so many aircraft crashed?
Scientists and aerial experts reveal the reason for the recent series of incidents.

In 2025, the number of fatalities of accidents with commercial aircraft is now more than 100 – about a third of the total for the entire 2024.
Aviation safety professional John Cox said, however, that “there is no relegation in aviation safety” and the recent accidents are “not related.”
“There has been a peak this year in the number of controversial accidents,” Mr. Cox told MailOnline.
'But the general statistics are clear that flying remains the safest form of transport; Remember that the US will have 44,000 deaths on the highways this year. '
Arnold Barnett, a professor in the statistics at the MIT Sloan School of Management, said he considered the recent peak in Crashes as a coincidence.
“In the vast majority of the months there are no fatal accidents with planned flights all over the world,” he told MailOnline.
'Do we have to believe that the skill that produced these excellent results has suddenly disappeared at the end of December 2024?
“The prominent recent crashes also had very different causes, so they do not offer any proof of a systematic problem that has become much more dangerous.”

Until the facts are known, it is unwise to speculate about what a single accident with airline would have caused, said Dr. Simon Ashley Bennett, director of the Civil Safety and Security Unit at the University of Leicester.
But on the basis of what we know, recent crashes were caused by various factors, of the bird strike on Jeju 2216 and the snowy, Windy Toronto again that affected Delta 4819.
Lanhsa Airlines flight 018, the newest fatal incident, experienced a suspected mechanical failure, believe the authorities – ie when parts do not work.
At the end of January, a LearJet 55 also crashed as an air ambulance in Philadelphia, killing six people on board and one person on the ground – although this was not a commercial flight.
Luchtvaarttexpert Anthony Brickhouse pointed out that air travel remains the safest transport mode.
“Statistically, you are safer in your flight than you drove to the airport in your car,” he said CNN earlier this month.
According to a recent BBC report, the number of air accidents in January 2025 (52) was lower than in January 2024 (58) and January 2023 (70).
What is more, in the past two decades there has been a general downward trend in air accidents despite an increase in the total number of flights, it appears.

In 2024, the total deaths of airlines had 318 – which made the deadliest in commercial aviation since 2018.
Worrying, taking into account this year's deadly incidents, the figure for 2025 has already passed 100.
But to put these figures in perspective, the average number of commercial flights per day is 105,972, according to the global aviation data provider OAG.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) adds that on average there is only one accident for every 1.26 million flights.
According to Dr. Bennett at the University of Leicester are reasons for disasters of airlines Mechanical failure, bad weather, pilot error and other forms of human errors.
“Sometimes maintenance engineers can work long services, maintenance technicians can make potential catastrophic mistakes,” he said in a piece for the conversation.
“It is important to remember that the pilot is the last line of defense if the catastrophic goes wrong.”
In the meantime, aviation accidents are caused by sabotage according to Wisner Baum about 9 percent of all crashes.
The hijackings of 11 September 2001, Egyptair Flight 990 and the crashes of Germanwings Flight 9525 are demonstrably some of the most striking Sabotage -Crashes in recent history, says the company.
